I Want to Go Home

Have you ever been so far away from home,
so far away for so long,
that when the lights are turned off,
when all the foreground noise the world provides is turned off, and you are left with nothing but yourself,
does it hit you?
Do those memories of times of comfort and warmth,
those memories of happiness and love
come not to comfort you,
but to haunt you?

I want to give a huge thank you to . He provided a lot of constructive criticism and made this image so much better, not to mentioned, pushed me heavily to make it better.

I had this idea buzzing in my head since November 2012, but finally got around to creating it in January.

Originally, I wanted to just draw a stallion, it didn't matter who, I just wanted to draw a stallion. Then I wanted to not draw a retrace of a stock image, I wanted to challenge myself a bit by drawing the stallion in a unique pose, different of said reference frame. Then I decided to draw the 11th Doctor pony, originally it was going to be 10th Doctor pony. Then I decided to try my hands at a background! Then I decided to try to create life - err, wait, no I didn't, not that one (yet).

Overall, I'm very, very proud of this creation. Looking back at the original drawing showed a maturity in my drawing skills and the digital translation showed a maturity with the software. To be fair, I took a course which dealt with the software I used, Adobe Illustrator CS6, but hey, the discovery of the pen tool was the best thing that happened to me!

While I have only one idea for another drawing at this time, I'm hoping to get into that in the very near future, so expect more.
